45 for yourself, then restrict your companion to use only weapons with a low rate of fire or even a melee weapon. If you cannot be bothered with managing ammo, i.e. Sure, it costs them a bit more ammo than what a smart player requires, but for an AI is it still impressive.
My settlers fight off attacks sometimes within just a few seconds and my provisioners can be brutally effective in killing entire street gangs. If you listen to some of the background firefights in FO4 they go on for bloody ages, on several occasions I have left a settlement in a blind rage to murder both sides of whatever argument is in progress because the noise of a thousand rounds being exchanged while you try to create the perfect indoor brahmin pen is distracting to the highest levels of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥! I find the NPC AI to be quite effective when given the right gear. When I discovered that dumbpanions required ammo I would give them a few hundred for that legendary toy I had just gifted them and yet half way through a single mission they are already out of ammo and back on their default weapon.ġ00 rounds can last me days but then I'm not an NPC, I don't continually fire at someone who is behind cover.
